Music at Legsby
Music Intent
At Legsby, we want our learners to appreciate the joy of music whilst understanding the role music can play in our everyday lives.
We aim for learners to appreciate the thrill of performance as part of a team whilst showing that practise can lead to fabulours personal development.
The children will learn about the instruments they listen to and be given opportunities to develop their talents for musical composition.
We really want our learners to have the confidence to perform and experience the thrill of applause at the end of an accomplished performance.
Implementation
Our music curriculum is delivered by Mrs Braddish who comes in weekly to work with each Key Stage.
Not only do the children learn the physical aspects of singing such as warming up their voices, they also learn about rhythm and the instruments of the orchestra.
The highlight of the musical year is the performance of a whole school play at the Methodist Chapel in Market Rasen which all the children participate in.
As well as through the curriculum, children are exposed to music through other cultures in their classrooms.
Impact
Our curriculum ensures that Legsby learners :-
- have a wide understanding of different genres of music
- know that music can make a fantastic contribution to our cultural life
- have the confidence to perform in front of an audience
- practise for solo or group performances
- learn to enjoy music as an audience or performer
