Intent
Through our Geography Curriculum our aim is for our pupils to understand their place in the world locally, nationally and globally. We want our children to realise the effect that geography has had on human civilisation and the impact humanity has had on the planet. By reading landscapes and understanding climates our Geographers will be inquisitive learners with a thirst to explore and understand the world whilst understanding how to protect it.
Implementation
Our curriculum is a spiral one which builds progressively on prior learning, building from EYFS to Year 6. Our Geography curriculum is divided into ‘Big Ideas’; Humankind, Processes, Investigation, Materials, Nature, Place and Space, Comparison, Significance and Change. These umbrella categories allow the children to explore all aspects of the National Curriculum which is fully covered using imaginative and well-resourced topics.
Impact
- Children will have practical knowledge of understanding their location in the world being able to use a variety of methods to interpret landscape and plan routes.
- Learners will have a rich vocabulary to help them question and explore
- Our learners will understand how the Earth and climate change and continue to change
- Legsby Pupils will be able to compare locations and appreciate how lives are shaped by the environment in which they live.
- Legsby learners will understand the impact that the geography and land use in Lincolnshire is significant locally, nationally and internationally.
